100 NOT OUT: Congratulations to probably Grenfell's oldest resident, Jack Grant who will turn 100 on March 31. The family had a great celebration organised for tomorrow evening, but unfortunately with so many family members inter-state and overseas and not being able to travel/attend owing to the Covid-19 virus restrictions, the party is put on hold. Some family members from Wagga and Grenfell will celebrate quietly with Jack over the weekend. (I will have more on Jacks milestone next week).

70TH BIRTHDAY: Congratulations to Peter Butcher who celebrated his 70th birthday on Monday, March 23. Owing to the shut-down of his favourite dining places, the family chose the undercover BBQ area the Lions Park for his special celebration. Peter was very surprised when an old friend Laurie Greystone arrived at the small gathering.
Peter said, Thank you to everyone for my 70th Birthday posts on Facebook, I was surprised with the number of people who wished me well, I had a great day, even without going to a pub or club. The picnic in the park and a few family and close friends was a great way to celebrate. I am truly blessed to have them in my life. God Bless you all.
Pride of place was a beautiful and yummy cake made and designed in Peters favourite Footy team colours T he Tigers- by Amanda Mason.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY: David Thiel celebrated his 71st birthday on Friday, March 20, he was joined by his wife Lain and good friends and neighbours Terry and Deidre Carroll for a little celebration at the Happy Inn Chines Restaurant on Saturday evening.
THLHS REUNION 1963-1966: 58 ex- students of The Henry Lawson High School enjoyed a weekend in Grenfell, culminating with a reunion dinner at the Grenfell Country Club on Saturday afternoon/evening March 14.
Organisers said it was the biggest number to attend any of their reunions with some attending for the first time. Everyone mixed and had lots to catch up on and had an enjoyable night.
Maureen Gault, Vickie Reid, Andrea Ladlow and Nola Nobes had the honour of cutting the cake. The breakfast next morning was also well attended. Everyone looks forward to the next reunion in three years.
ROCK TILL IT RAINS: A Night to Remember. The Greenethorpe community certainly put on a show on Saturday evening, celebrating together at Greenethorpes Rock Till It Rains.
The sold out, all ages music event featured performances by Lusi Austin (Cowra), Jesse and Axl (Grenfell), Josie Laver (Cowra), Weak Cordial (Grenfell), Lisa Flanagan (Cowra), and Wishful Thinking (Greenethorpe).
Four young performers from the district also performed as the warm-up act vocalist Charlie Allen (Henry Lawson High School), drummer Louis Johnson (Cowra High School), vocalist Amelia Squires (Henry Lawson High School) and musician Tennyson Neville (Young High School).
The focus of the event was to get the community together (more than raising funds) as the continuing drought was causing people to feel stressed and isolated. We needed a rain dance. The Hall Committee is very grateful for the sponsorship that we received and to the many local musicians who came along and shared their talents for the occasion. said event organiser, Danielle Allen. We hoped that Rock Till It Rains would bring the community together, reduce isolation, give everyone something to focus on other than the drought, and to showcase the amazing local talent we have in our district.
