Also, Super Singles were cancelled with more wet stuff. How great!
Saturday was the final and Presentation Day for the Pennant season. No 4 Pennant winners were Cootamundra Country Club and runners-up Grenfell Womens Bowling Club.
A club meeting was held at Grenfell following the presentations at Young. A very successful gathering was held with eight members present. It was decided to continue with our club in its present format.
We will have a game or roll-up when numbers allow and all will be invited to join in by messenger.
Anyone interested in trying something new is welcome.
The nomination forms for the District Singles and Pairs are on the board and will be returned to the District at the next meeting on April 2.
Also on the board is the nomination list for the club singles and pairs. These will close on March 28. So please put your names up and support our championships.
The District Mixed Pairs will be held here on Saturday, March 21.
Please come and watch some good bowls. This competition is being played in sets play, so it is something different.
Super Singles will continue while people continue to support it.
They will now be played with a 6pm start till 8pm and will continue in the new format of consistency over three ends. A very enjoyable form of the game.
Everyone, bowlers and non-bowlers, are welcome to come and have a game.

Riding success for Indi and Ele
A huge congratulations to Indi Edwards for not only competing at the Boorowa Show on Saturday but for also winning Reserve Champion Boy or Girl Rider Under 12 years on her gorgeous palomino pony mare Stockdale Ponies Poppy.
Indi and Poppy picked up the win in the Boy or Girl Rider 6 and Under 9 putting her into the Champion round where she just missed out to the older Young rider Zara Hewson.
Riding out among some pretty intimidating horses in another ring Indi and Poppy held it together to do a very impressive workout.
Indi's mum, Ele Edwards, also rode Poppy on Saturday winning first in Poppy's Show Hunter Pony not exceeding 12hh. Well done to you both.
Rebecca Hewson.

THLHS Opens Netball
The Henry Lawson High School opens netball team traveled to Orange to compete in the Western Region Netball Trials. The girls faced some very competitive teams but thoroughly enjoyed the day out at the Orange PCYC netball courts.
Unfortunately we were defeated by Orange High, Kelso High and Lithgow High. A big thank you to Trudy O'Byrne who assisted with transport and support on the sideline.
Thanks also to Henry Best (team manager and motivator) and Faith White (head coach and selector). A great effort on the day girls and given the tough competition, you worked so hard as a team and played fairly.
Thanks to Mrs Griffiths for nominating, preparing and training up this awesome team who should be proud of their strong defence on the day. It was an absolute pleasure to spend the day with these fine athletes.

Harness Racing
Following a number of meetings over recent weeks, the spotlight will certainly shine bright at the Young Paceway on Friday night with the running of the 2020 Carnival Of Cups.
Last Sunday's win by the Marrool trained Major Roll in the Coolamon Cup gave an insight into the quality of horses than can be expected to nominate for the Young meeting that will carry a total prize money purse of well over $100,000 a fantastic effort by the Young Club.
With the feature race carrying prize money of $30,600.00, the field is expected to be top class in contesting the 2480 metre event that has in the past seen the track record of 1:57.0 set by Spare Me Days on March 12, 2016.
Leading Bathurst driver Amanda Turnbull was successful in the SWSCU/Young Services Club Derby last year with Shoobee Doo who defeated Leonidas and Make Mine Memphis while the Southcon Young Oaks was won by Bella Claire for Nathan Xuereb who defeated the locally trained Nellie Albertina driven by Jimmy Brown with Billie Kate finishing third.
Each of these two feature supporting races will carry total prize money of $20,400 each ensuring once again that the final fields will be of the highest standard.
Patrons can once again be assured of a great night of family entertainment with top class racing, entertainment by Luke Dickens, face painting, jumping castle, Young Rugby League, food stalls, mini trotting and of course free admission.
