The girls were in town to help Geoff celebrate his 83rd birthday on Saturday, January 25. Pam made the beautiful birthday cake which was enjoyed by all including good friend Bev Williams.
GRENFELL DRAMATIC SOCIETY: The Grenfell Dramatic Society 2020 Official Season Launch was a great evening held on Thursday, January 30 in the front garden of the rooms in Rose Street under portable shade and fairy lights. Guests enjoyed canapes, finger food and cool drinks prior to the official launch.
President Stephen Griffin welcomed all and outlined the programme for the year:- February 13- Poetry By Fairy Light, April 23 - Poetry, Remembering the War, June 2 - Poetry by Firelight - Australiana, June 4 - School Recitations Day, September 12,13,19 and 20 - Themes of Our Lives - Dinner/ High Tea Shows, November 7 and 14 - Pantomime - our junior spectacular and keep an eye out for more Radio Plays.
Graeme Eppelstun was the lucky winner of the double season pass. Next general meeting will be Monday, February 10 at 7.30pm. Poetry by Fairy Light: Come celebrate LOVE in all its shapes and forms this Valentine's Day Eve, Thursday, February 13 at 7pm. With works now starting on the Rose Street rooms, this first event of the 2020 season will be held at the beautiful local B&B "Stray Leaves" 12 Weddin Street.
Whether you want to tread the boards with your 'Love' themed poetry or simply come to be entertained, it's sure to be a beautiful fun filled night. Limited seats available so ensure you let us know you are coming. Look forward to seeing you there!

LEISURE GROUP: Leisure Group is now getting underway for the year and it is not too late to join. The group meets every Thursday between 10am and noon at the Uniting Church Hall in Camp Street. As it is a volunteer-run organisation, all tuition is free.
There is, however a $25 per term fee to cover hall costs, morning tea and creche. Groups meeting together this term include Patchwork, Needlework, Papercrafts and Beading, Gentle Exercise, Crochet and Knitting, Cards and Board Games, Sewing for Beginners and Guitar for Beginners. Men and women are all welcome to enrol or just come along and see if there is something you would like to join!
WELCOME TO THE WORLD: Odie Jack Aubusson, son of Laura and Mitch, fifth grandchild of Felicity and Chris Suckling of Wagga and 29th great grandchild of Jack and the late Meg Grant of Grenfell was born on November 11, 2019.
Jack, who will turn 100 on March 31, met Odie at Christmas in Wagga and was delighted to have a photograph taken. No doubt Odie will be a "Rooster" supporter as his dad plays for Sydney Roosters. Jack of course follows his beloved St George Dragons.
IGA COMMUNITY CHEST: Amber York, assistant store manager and grocery manager Ben Mitton of Mawhood's IGA Grenfell, were delighted to present six schools from the Weddin Shire with proceeds of the store's Community Chest funds.
Aaron Flagg, Principal of The Henry Lawson High School, John Gorman, representing Caragabal Public School and Greenethorpe Public School, Michelle Morley, Principal of Grenfell Public School, Therese Clancy Principal of St Joseph's Primary School and Suzie McCullough representing Quandialla Public School were thrilled to be recipients of the funding and all would like to thank Mawhood's IGA Grenfell for their generous donation.
Each of the school representatives thanked staff and management at Mawhood's IGA for their generous donation, with the combined total of $2120 being split between the schools.
AUSTRALIA DAY: Belinda Mort who runs the Greenethorpe Post Office and Café was presented with her Weddin Shire Community Achievement Award at the Australia Day celebrations at Greenethorpe.
Weddin Shire Australia Day Ambassador, Andrew Lock OAM addressed those in attendance and presented Belinda with her award.
