Seven young people from across Weddin Shire were recognised with Youth Awards on Australia Day.

The shire's schools each nominated an achiever for the year, and the shire recognised top HSC achiever Marie Knight.
Marie, who wasn't present on Sunday, achieved Band 6 results in Agriculture and Modern History, and Band 5s in Biology, Community and Family Studies, Advanced English, and Mathematics. She received an outstanding ATAR score of 93.2.
Anna Hunt received the Youth Award for Henry Lawson High School for her contribution to her school through her academic achievements, sporting representation and involvement in school and community activities.
Sophie Berry was named Grenfell Public School's recipient. Sophie Grenfell Public School Captain in 2019, consistently displayed exemplary behaviour and was an active participant in all school activities.
Sky McLelland received the award for St Joseph's Catholic School. She served as School Captain, representing the school at community events, and was involved in Mini Vinnies, dance, individual and team sports, drama and public speaking.
Skye personally organised a fundraiser for the cancer treatment facility Chris O'Brien Lifehouse.
Summer Dixon was presented with the Youth Award for Quandialla Public School. She was described as a thoughtful student whose natural instinct is to involve everyone and lend a helping hand wherever it's needed.
Caragabal Public School honoured Amber Taylor, 2019 School Captain who represented Caragabal and Grenfell on numerous occasions. She's a dedicated, determined and passionate student and athlete.
Thomas Murphy has been a school leader at Greenethorpe Public School for two years and was chosen as their Youth Award recipient. He works hard in the classroom and is always happy to help others including students and staff.
