David has made his home in Australia for 49 years now, moving to Grenfell with his wife Alison five years ago.
"I've been calling myself an Australian since about two weeks after I got here, I just didn't have the paperwork," he said.
"I love it here and I wanted to make my life here."
It all became official last Sunday.
The architect, who continues to work remotely on Sydney projects, hasn't looked back since he made the move to the town where Alison grew up.
"You can get parking here, it's a more peaceful sort of life," he says with a smile.
The friendliness of the community means they're very settled here.
David started the Grenfell Writers Group and continues to write himself as he works with the small group on writing projects.
"I went to a writers group a number of years ago and I really enjoyed it, so I thought I'd see if I could start one here," he said.
Family and friends from Grenfell, Sydney and Canberra gathered at the Rumps' home on Australia Day to celebrate.
Teryck Young also made his pledge of Australian citizenship on Australia Day, celebrating with his family from Greenethorpe.
Born in Zimbabwe, Teryck moved to the UK in 2000 with his family before coming to Australia.
They first lived in Perth, but now have settled in Greenthorpe.
After a few years working around this are and Young in labouring and landscaping, Teryck has now moved to Sydney where he's working.
"Australia is home," he said with a smile.
Congratulations on your Australian citizenship and welcome!
