Sam's Mum Jayne and stepfather Roy Crabtree jetted in from England for the happy occasion, where local Marriage Celebrant, Anthony Myer officiated at the ceremony.
The bride's hair and make-up were by Verdel of Anoint in Grenfell.
Although the weather was hot and windy and the wedding marquee blew down, a good time was had by all. Congratulations Alastair and Sam.
80TH BIRTHDAY: Returning Grenfell local Peter Thompson and partner Alynn Pratt enjoyed an evening at the Railway Hotel celebrating New Year's Eve and the 80th birthday of Alynn's sister Rosalie from Castle Hill in Sydney.
After growing up in Grenfell, Peter is returning after nearly 50 years in Sydney. He and Alynn (a long-time visitor over many decades) are planning to become full-time residents during the coming year.
THANK YOU: Suzanne Yule would like to thank all those involved with the Grenfell Town and District Band Raffle drawn on Christmas Eve. She wishes to thank those who supported it with donations and those who collected, sold tickets and put it together. Suzanne said, "Winning the raffle came at a very testing time and it was a wonderfully lifting experience. So once again THANK YOU!"
Footnote: Prior to Christmas Suzanne was devastated when she lost her beloved pet. A good friend gave her a gift of a "scratchy money tree" to cheer her up. From this she won five dollars and spent it on tickets in the Band Raffle. The rest is history.
Mayor Mark Liebich was on hand to draw the magnificent raffle - Results being first Suzanne Yule, second Keith Cartman, whilst third place winner was Sandra Hughes.
The Grenfell Town and District Band Wishes to thank the community for their outstanding support
CHRISTMAS LIGHTS ON HORSEBACK: On December 22, ten riders met at the Railway Station for their second Christmas Lights Ride.
After a lot of fun dressing up the horses with lights. bells and tinsel and a quick walk around to ensure that the horses were happy, the group headed up the Main Street and weaved their way around town visiting family and friends who were waiting.
Many people came out to see the happy group as they checked out many of the homes decorated with Christmas lights.
They finished off their ride of seven kilometres down the Main Street, stopping to wish Henry a merry Christmas.
They all agreed it was a fabulous night with best friend and best horses.
VISITING HOME: Emily Keough and her friend Jack Fogarty were home over the Christmas/New Year break visiting her parents David and Janette. Jack's family hail from Orange.
Emily and Jack are both studying at the University of Wollongong, where Emily graduated with a PHD - Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) in 2015 and now as well as studying also teaches at the University.
Terry and I first met Emily (as a three year old) when her parents had the Railway Hotel and have remained great friends with her and the family ever since. We enjoyed an evening out with Emily and Jack on New Year's Eve reliving the many fun times over the years.
BUSHFIRES: Our thoughts and prayers are with families who have been affected by the dreadful bushfires prior to Christmas/New Year and the ones continuing still.
Locals have family who have lost their home and property during these devastating fires. Sympathy is extended to families who have lost loved ones owing to the fires.
Thank you to volunteers, all service personal and those assisting in the evacuation facilities.
