COMBINED CHURCHES DINNER: On Thursday, September 26 St Joseph's Parish hosted the annual Combined Churches Dinner at the Grenfell Country Club. In a change from the traditional Men's Dinner, this year both men and women were invited to attend. About 50 people from the various Grenfell churches were able to enjoy a delicious two-course meal and listen to guest speaker Vanessa Gibson, who spoke about her role as Deputy Chair of the Catholic Education Commission for the Canberra-Goulburn Diocese.

Vanessa is the only representative residing outside of Canberra on the Commission. As part of her role Vanessa was given the opportunity to travel with a team to Rome to meet with other Catholic education representatives from around the world. A highlight of the trip was a group audience with Pope Francis. Vanessa accompanied her very informative talk with a PowerPoint presentation of photos from her trip. Those who attended agreed that it was a very interesting talk and a great night of fellowship.
FAMILY FUN DAY: It was a great day for a Family Fun Day, the sun was shining, and people arrived in groups to attend the free community event that the Cowra Information and Neighbourhood Centre coordinated.
Over 200 people attended the event to ride the bucking bull or jumping castle, play games with their families and socialise with other community members.
Many thanks are needed to ensure such a successful event. The Cowra Information and Neighbourhood Centre partnered with Western Plains Regional Development Inc as well as the ever-trusting Lions Club of Grenfell to bring the community together for a great day. We must also thank the Weddin Shire Council for allowing us to host the event in Vaughn Park. Our goal was to get as many families and community members to attend and we are were more than thrilled with the turn out on the day. It was lovely to see families engaging in play, challenging each other to tug of war battles and some adults may have enjoyed a slippery dip or two more than the children. Such events are valuable in small communities and we look forward to hosting more like this into the future. (Contributed by Natalie Rush - Client Services - CINC)
