The lighter evenings now becoming even longer, with our clocks moved forward and the sun gods playing some serious games with our thermometers.
Unfortunately the dust has become our new storm, as we move into yet another summer of bowls.
We still have our Club Championships to play and our Summer League begins in earnest, this Sunday.
We had a couple of teams travel away during the week. Andrew Armstrong, Sonia Ingall, Barry Bradkte and Sharyn Bradkte travelled to Nyngan for their Open Triples Tournament; while Martin Betcher, Kathy Betcher and Warren Paine headed over to Boorowa for their tournament.
No major prizes were awarded, however Martin had a win for a resting toucher and Warren came home with a nice bottle of wine from the raffle.
Not only are these tournaments a great way to have some fun and meet new people, it is also important to offer our support. Especially to the smaller clubs.
The first round of our Triples Championship gets underway on Thursday, October 17 at 10am, when Rosemary Walter, Alison Cutcliffe and Julie Hughes play Sue Gault, Judy McAlister and Pat Reid.
Watch this space for dates of the remaining Championship games.
Kathy Betcher and Alison Cutcliffe are off to Sydney to play in the Willow Fong two day tournament at Merrylands Bowling Club. Good luck girls and have fun.
Dates to remember:
- Saturday ladies days are back to 10am.
- Our Tuesday Skills, Drills, Coaching and Training days are back, with a starting time of 1.30pm.
- Summer league begins on October 13.
- Our next monthly meeting will be held on Thursday, October 10 at 5.00pm, followed by a social game of bowls for those who are interested.
