Former Parish Council members Jeanne Montgomery and Dianne Franks, some years ago moved that a plaque be placed to commemorate this occasion.
Fr Allen was in Grenfell following Fr Tom Thornton's farewell and was indeed very happy to unveil the beautiful plaque in his honour.
Although retired, Fr Allen has been assisting with masses and funeral services in the Young Mission since he moved home to Young/Murringo some six years ago.
Dianne Franks thanked Fr Allen for his wonderful contribution to the parish and called on him to unveil the plaque. Fr Allen suitably responded and thanked everyone for their care and community spirit.
Parishioners are reminded that as Young Mission will now be served by two priest, Fr James Onoja - Parish Pastor and Fr Praveen Paul - Associate Pastor.
Parishioners are reminded that Sunday Mass times are now at 9am.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY: Jock Grant who has been in Grenfell for several months working at the new Ambulance site was pleased to have his family in town to help him celebrate his 24th birthday. Damien Grant is a nephew of Jack Grant of Grenfell.
RETURN TO GRENFELL: On September 25 2018 Charlotte ten Have celebrated her 30th birthday in Grenfell. Charlotte originally from Deventer in the Netherlands met her partner Paul Liddell in Nicaragua over ten years ago. They did not see each other for four years and met up again in Perth where Paul was working
In 2014 Paul and Charlotte moved to Brisbane, where they are both working. On September 25 this year they returned to celebrate another birthday in Grenfell on their way to a music festival in Grong Grong. They thoroughly enjoyed their stay at Grenfell Hall.
BOOK CLUB: Former Hotelier Steph Stewart paid a visit to Grenfell recently and enjoyed an evening with Grenfell's Book Club members plus some at "Stray Leaves". Steph and her late husband Ken were former owners of the Exchange Hotel.
Book Club members Pam Livingstone, Mary Moffitt, Zel Barker, Carol Hargrave, Pene Starr, Val Forsyth and friends Deidre Carroll, Noelene Perceval and Margaret Lynch enjoyed an evening of reminiscing, lovely food, fun and fellowship to welcome Steph. And yes, they did have a "Book Club Meeting".
HAPPY BIRTHDAY: Pauline Tregenza was treated to a special dinner at the Railway Hotel on Tuesday, evening October 1 to celebrate her 70th birthday.
Staff from the Grenfell Medical Centre including Dr Pattrick and his wife Elizabeth, Leanne Livingstone and Phillipa Frost were there to help Pauline celebrate this milestone.
OPEN ROAD: In the latest edition of the NRMA Open Road, Central NSW is featured in "Road Trip". Kris and Kellie Ashton visited Bathurst, Oberon, Canowindra, Cowra. Grenfell and Parkes. Whilst in Grenfell they stayed at Pam and Rob Livingstone's "Stray Leaves" in Weddin Street quoting it as "A gorgeous historic home in easy walking distance from Grenfell's Main Street."
The article feature photos from each town including Pam and Rob's dog at their sheep farm, Heesco's famous artwork at Mawhinney's Silos and mentions Jeff Connelly's Chrysler Museum, Henry Lawson's birthplace and the hideout at Ben Hall's Cave.

DRAMATIC SOCIETY: The Grenfell Dramatic Society's "Our Wardrobe - bringing characters to life over 60 years" has been an outstanding success as well as their Radio Plays held each weekend at the Art Gallery.
Following performance of ' The Maltese Falcon' and 'Easy Aces', "Flash Gordon" and "Father Knows Best", if you wish to have a great laugh and support the Grenfell Dramatic Society, you can catch two new Radio "Doc Savage" and "Life Of Riley" tomorrow at1pm and again Saturday October 12 with the final Radio Play on October 19 "The Crowd Favourite". Bookings/tickets $10 each for the Radio Plays are at CJ Andersons.
The Art Gallery is open Monday to Friday 10am - 4pm, Saturday 10am - 3pm and Sunday 10am -2pm.
