In the O'Connors Case IH sponsored feature race over 1400m, the Scott Spackman trained Cryfowl (Bryan Murphy $3.50) came from a long way back to beat the leader, Sam (Michael Travers $3.20 fav) and the dead heaters for third, Nordic Noir (Aaron Sweeney $6) and Percussion (Kate Cowan $15).
Wagga Wagga trainer Scott Spackman and Bryan Murphy had earlier won the 1400m Maiden Plate with Takissacod ($2 equal fav) which tracked the leader Dizzy Dylan then held out Maya Miracle (Mathew Cahill $2 equal fav) by a nose with Bycromac (Tony Cavallo $5), more than five lengths away third.
A syndicate of owners from Bathurst which includes the mayor Bobby Bourke, together with Paul Friend from Dunedoo, were in full cry when My Girl Grace won the 1200m Crutcher Development Class Two Handicap.
Trained by Roy McCabe at Bathurst and ridden by Bathurst based apprentice Ashleigh Stanley, My Girl Grace ($6 to $3 fav) swept around the field mid-race to take the lead and cruised home by over four lengths from Lady Riz (Mathew Cahill $6) and Madam Ruby (Aaron Sweeney $5). My Girl Grace, now the winner of four races from 10 starts, had also won at the 2018 Grenfell meeting.
Leading jockey Mathew Cahill from Cowra was all class when he won the Cultivat8 Financial Services Grenfell Cup on the Darryl Rolfe, Canberra trained Opera Tickets. Traffic Cop led for a good part of the 2000m trip before Opera Tickets ($4.60) surged to the front to win the Cup from Solar Shadow (Michael Travers $3.50 favourite) and Nightspun (Tony Cavallo $3.60).
First leg of a winning double for Mathew Cahill was the Garry Kirkup trained Original Prankster ($6) which led all the way to beat Oriental Gift (Michael Travers $3.60) and Ballista (Kate Cowan $6) in the 1000m Benchmark 58 Handicap.
The Todd Blowes trained Destiny's Dee Day (Michael Travers $4.60) also set the pace when winning the Mawhood's IGA Maiden Handicap 1000m from Lady Miner (Tony Cavallo $10 to $4.60) and Shiny Agent (Ken Dunbar $8) at the successful Grenfell meeting.
