Organisers for this years Grenfell Jockey Club Races have the track looking an absolute treat ahead of Saturday's meeting. A six race card will entertain the crowd and there will be plenty of tight contests across the day with the 2000 metre Grenfell Cup and the 1400 metre Loaded Dog Handicap both offering $10,000 in prize money for first past the post.
At last year's meeting, Ken Dunbar received the Fred Loader trophy for the most successful jockey with the Dubbo based hoop riding four of the six winners including both two feature races on board the Karen McCarroll-trained, Smart Attire and Dean Mirfin's, Sovereignaire. The 2019 fields look strong with a number of jockeys a chance at claiming the iconic trophy.
There will be plenty of entertainment and action off the track for people of all ages with full TAB and Sky facilities and on-course bookmakers. Full canteen and bar facilities will be also be available, while tent sties are still being offered. For the younger crowd there will be children's rides and entertainment, along with the Grenfell Town and District Band providing live music throughout the day.
The ever popular 'Fashions on the Field' will return and the warmer weather makes it perfect for the ladies to show off the amazing dresses and accessories, while the men are sure to look dapper in their best suits and hats. Categories to enter include Best Millinery, Best Dressed Filly and Best Dressed Teen. A courtesy bus will be available and gates open at 11am with entry $15.
