Quandialla Public School
We're keeping very busy at the moment to stay warm. Next on the agenda this week is the Character Parade and Book Fair on Wednesday. After a short assembly and a parade of book characters, students can read with parents and visitors. Unfortunately I will be away at a principal's meeting, but I am looking forward to seeing lots of good photos.

Last week's information about the Forbes Small Schools Creative Arts Showcase had a wrong date. I had the date of August 23rd for the Showcase, this is actually the date for this week's practise in Forbes. The Showcase will take place on Monday 23rd September at 5:30pm. Parents are urged to get in and get their tickets for the Showcase. There are a limited number of tickets and no tickets will be sold at the door. All our students will be involved in the Showcase and students will be transported to Forbes by parents on this day, there will be no bus going to the Showcase.
Thanks to the P&C we are able to take a bus to the Forbes Small Schools Choir performance at the Primary Principals' Association conference in Orange on Thursday August 29. A permission note will go home this week with more information.
Due to the wild weather early Monday morning a tree near the bus stop has lost a large branch. The branch has been cleaned up but the tree is very unstable. The area has been cordoned off and students will be using the main gates to enter and exit the school until it is safe again.
On Monday we had a fantastic day learning how to be strong and smart. All the students brought in artefacts that are special to them and have special memories. The students embraced the ideas discussed and participated in a way I couldn't have imagined. I can't wait to get our yarning circle up and running, so we can do some more sharing.
Last week students from 3-6 travelled to Dubbo to play touch football against Wilcannia. After a chilly start, the game got underway and Quandialla worked wonderfully as a team to score the first try. By half time it was 2-1 to Wilcannia, after the break Wilcannia seemed to warm up and scored another 3 tries to our 1. Everyone had a great time and played really well. After hoorays and group photos Quandi headed for Sushi.
Thanks to all the parents who transported their children to Dubbo for the game and thanks once again to the P&C for subsidising the accommodation. Last, but definitely not least, a huge thanks to Mr Pudya for coaching and refereeing.

Small Schools Choir
On Friday August 23 our school choir will be rehearsing at Forbes Public School with the other small schools.
The Small Schools Choir have been invited to perform at the Western Region Principals' Conference on Thursday August 29. This is very exciting as it will be their first performance as a group. Notes and details will be forwarded to parents this week.
Year 6 Orientation
On Friday I attended the year 6 orientation day. Our activities were Agriculture, PE, Cooking and Wood Tech.
In Agriculture we were working with cattle, firstly we carried bags of feed into the paddock to the feeders, we brushed the cattle then we washed and blow dried the cattle.
My second activity was PE. In PE we played mixed sport, we played floor hockey, basketball, netball and soccer. Everyone had a turn at each sport.
My third activity was cooking. We cooked chocolate truffles. They were easy to cook and once they were finished we got to eat them, yum.
My final activity of the day was wood tech. In wood tech we built aeroplanes that connected to wires and they flew. We only had certain materials that we could use.
My favourite part was agriculture where we worked with the cattle. Also hanging out with my friends.

This week has seen a wide range of activities taking place here at school.
Thank you to Mr and Mrs Nealon for your efforts to bring our chicken coop to life.
We now have some speckled chooks who are happily taking care of our lunch scraps each day.
Open Day - our open day is coming tomorrow. We are looking forward to seeing you here at school. Come along and visit your child's classroom to learn some more about the work that they are doing in their classes. Feel free to bring some lunch along and stay for lunch with your children, and maybe join in a game or two during playtime.
Enrolments for 2020 - if you have a child beginning school in 2020, please take the time to collect an enrolment form, complete, and return to school. Completing this process early will help us with planning for 2020.
In closing this week, I ask that you keep Alexander and his family in your prayers.
