First Grade hits back in first elimination round
The Grenfell Goannas have taken out Canowindra in a nail biter last Saturday to make it through to the second elimination round of the Woodbridge Cup semi-finals series.

The Goannas fought hard beating out the home side 28-24 to play in the second round of the elimination semi-finals this weekend in Grenfell.
Both the League Tag side and the Youth League sides went down, however both will be progressing through to the second round this coming weekend.
The Youth League side travelled to Manildra last Sunday where they tackled Trundle, only just going down with the final score Grenfell 26 - Trundle 30.
The League Tag ladies also travelled to Manildra on Sunday where they took on Manildra in a very tightly contested game. The defence was working overtime for both sides with the final score 8-4 Grenfell's way.
In the other games played at Canowindra last Saturday. Cargo Blue Heelers Youth League side defeated Molong Bulls Youth League side 14-10.
In the League Tag Condobolin defeated Canowindra 32-10 at Tom Clyburn Oval.
The other game to be played at Manildra last Sunday was the First Grade Manildra Rhinos side taking on the Molong Bulls with the Rhinos just too strong for the Bulls who went down 38-12.
This weekends elimination semi-final of week two of the semi-final series will be played at Henry Lawson Park in Grenfell on Saturday and at Condobolin on Sunday.
The Youth League Grenfell side will be facing off against the Cargo Blue Heelers from 12.20pm. The boys will be looking to get back to form this weekend against the Cargo side.
At 1.40pm the Manildra and Condobolin League Tag sides will take to the field.
And at 3pm the Goannas first grade will kick off against the Molong Bulls with the boys in a good position after last week to potentially make it through to the finals in two weeks time.
On Sunday from 11.20am in Condobolin the Manildra and Trundle Youth League sides will take the field.
The Grenfell Girlannas will be making the trip to Condobolin on Sunday to take on Cargo with kick off from 12.40pm, we wish the ladies the best of luck. Then from 2pm Trundle will be playing Manildra.
The week three final qualifier will be played at Cargo on Saturday, September 1 with the Youth League kicking off from 11.20am, the League Tag from 12.40pm and the first grade match from 2pm.
The Grand Final on Sunday, September 8 will be played at Trundle with Youth League set to take the field from 10.45am, League Tag from 12.20pm and first grade will start play at 2.30pm.
The winners from this Saturday will go on to play the following Sunday at Cargo and the Losers are finished for the year.
The Winners from this Sunday go straight to the Grand Finals in two weeks time and get next week off. The sides that go down will play at Cargo the following Sunday.

Indoor Bowls
On Tuesday afternoon August 13 we had a good roll up of 12 members which enabled us to have two mats of triples. A great time was had by all.
A team of Thelma, Jenny and Ted had a win over Jasmine, Audrey and Mary. The second mat finished with a win for Jeanie, Eric and Edith over Pat, Nerida and Mavis.
It is lovely and warm in the Bowling Club. We have our own bowls and would welcome new players. If interested please get in contact with the Bowling Club.

Golf
Ladies play against Forbes on the fairway. Our ladies played in the New South Wales Golf Association sand/grass Championships.
Between Grenfell and Forbes we had over 70 players. The weather was great and a great time was had by all.
Virginia won the 36 hole event and Elyse was runner up. Our men played well too which will be in the men's golf news.
We are playing a Stableford event on Wednesday. On Saturday a par event and Sunday a stableford event. Happy Golfing.

On Thursday five veterans travelled to Parkes to play in the Lachlan Valley Vets golf. Male players over 55 can join in the fun of golf and ladies over 50 can also join.
Meanwhile at Grenfell Country Club 73 players played in NSW golf association sand and grass green 36 hole championship. Mark Troth played wonderful golf to win the day on 41 points.
On Sunday the next 18 holes was played at Forbes with similar numbers playing. Virginia Drogemuller won the ladies 36 hole championship with Elyse Troth coming runner up for 36 holes. In the teams event Mark Troth, Elyse Troth , Barry Green and Dave Hancock were runner ups.
Just a reminder that Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday golf starts between 12noon and 1pm. Unfortunately Greg Hughes's day had to be rescheduled due to extreme weather conditions. The new date for Gregs day will be Saturday, September 7 from 12.30pm shotgun start.
Men's Bowls
Social Bowls: Sunny conditions greeted the Grenfell social bowlers with 62 players participating during the week.
On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday Grenfell mens bowlers entertained four bowlers from the Picnic Point Bowling Club.
The winners were :
- Free games : Paul Kay, Dennis Allen, David Ballard, Rod ONeill, Noel Brown and Mark McSpadden.
- Vouchers: John King, Noel Brown, Paul Kay, David Hancock, John Dumbrell, Arthur Gates and Col Meyers.
- Chooks: Albert Ham, Nevin Hughes, Kerry Aston, Dennis Allen , Keith Brus and Gary Pipe.
This week you needed +two on the first end on odd numbered rink. The jackpot was won this week.
Greg Fanning, Rob Chambers and Daryl Spalding shared the $75 jackpot. Next week the jackpot will be $69. Social bowls commence at 12.30pm with names in by 12 midday Wednesday's, Friday's and Sunday's.
