Weddin Shire Council Mayor Mark Liebich has penned a letter thanking the Henry Lawson Festival Committee for all of their hard work and dedication in organising the annual June long weekend event.
This was another great festival and the committee should be very proud they pulled off another winner.
Crowds streamed into Grenfell on the long weekend in June for another packed weekend of entertainment.
The events were second to none with another High Class Art competition where entries came in from Nsw and Interstate.
The Art is an integral part of the Henry Lawson Festival we are so lucky to have such a dedicated group of Art Volunteers who graciously volunteer their time.
With our Famous poet Henry Lawson we honour him by running poetry and the short story and verse competitions.
This competition culminates on Saturday night with Special awards being presented at the Bowling Club.
This night also celebrates the Huge amount of work done by our festival King / Queen Entrants and their respective community organisations.
This year we congratulate Chad White and Tara Anderson with their respective wins..
Thankyou very much to the organisers of these events.. The Henry Lawson Festival also picks up events such as Poetry Reading Damper Bake and a fun run to name a few..
The Weddin Shire is extremely fortunate to have an outstanding group of volunteers to carry on our festival which has been running for 62 years and as the Mayor of the Weddin Shire on behalf of the community I would like to say. Thankyou.
I would also like to publicly apologise for the article in June 28 Record unfortunately some of these comments were not reported in their entirety and some comments were combined with other comments and some had incorrect Councillors quoted.
I would like to apologise if my comments have offended.
I am very concerned about our community in this wretched drought.
The council is one hundred percent behind the festival committee and their volunteers The Henry Lawson Festival will be having a community forum on Tuesday July 30 from 6.30pm at the Bowling Club, all welcome to attend.
At this meeting we will discuss the future direction of the Festival not the future of the festival which has previously been advertised.
I look forward to a large attendance.
Clr Mark Liebich,
Weddin Shire Council
