The piece of 3D chalk art was completed as part of Grenfell's Henry Lawson Festival over the June long weekend.
"The work depicts a 'snowman' Henry Lawson melting next to a campfire," artist Anton Pulvirenti said.
Mr Pulvirenti is a man of many talents.
Drawing, painting, 3D illusions, murals, live art, cartoons, visual minutes and conducting workshops are just a few of his skills in addition to being a Doctor of Philosophy (Sydney University).
"I enjoy the large scale aspect of 3D illusions, and the satisfaction of producing something exciting after a very long and arduous process," he said.
"Everybody loves 3D illusions and being part of the imaginary reality they create, and it's a pleasure to work with the public in this process.
"I am constantly researching and refining my techniques, trying to find the best way to complete a piece."
Mr Pulvirenti used calk pigment and added hairspray to his Grenfell work to bind it together.
"I painted it down, so it'd last longer," he said.
His latest work is hard to miss, located in the centre of the towns shopping precinct.
"The work is two metres wide at the front and the entire piece is nine metres long," he said.
"Henry Lawson's head itself is three metres long and one metre wide."
An instant hit with the public, the work took Mr Pulvirenti seven hours to complete.
"The hardest part is always setting the thing up at the start and making the initial calculations and drawing down the first lines," he said.
"It gets easier from there, until your feet start getting sore towards the end of the day.
"It was very well received in terms of its technique and interactablity once people began to stand on it and take photos," he said.
Residents and visitors to the central west town will get to enjoy the work for some time to come with Mr Pulvirenti estimating it will remain visible for some time.
"It should last a couple of months before it begins to fade away with the foot traffic," he said of the artwork which is under the cover of shop awnings.
Mr Pulvirenti attended this year's Henry Lawson Festival through Zest Events International, who liaised with the Weddin Shire Council to get him there.
He has produced artworks for a variety of festivals, corporate and private events in Australia.
He has been feature artist at the Qatar Marine Festival in Doha, has worked with Snoop Dogg and has been featured in a windows segment on ABC TV's 'Play School'.
In addition to being a practising artist, producing public art and private commissions he has has taught perspective and landscape drawing at the University of New South Wales.
