A Minutes Silence was held in memory of members Marie Barr and Bill Rudd.

Two visitors, John Walsh and Elizabeth Austin, were welcomed and then subsequently inducted as members by President Ron.

Secretary Halleen Schaefer read the minutes, followed by correspondence which included an invitation to the Rotary Changeover Dinner on June 19.

Treasurer Brian McDonald gave the Treasurer's report and Pat Hewen won the draw for birthday of the month, after Social Secretary Rosalie White read Birthdays and Wedding anniversaries.

Esma Baker, filling in for Tourist Officer Nola Nobes, confirmed the 4-day Barrington Tops Tour from 16th to 19th September, costing $605 per person twin share and $800.00 single supplement with a deposit of $200 to be paid at the June meeting, in an envelope please, with the remaining $405 to be paid at the August meeting. The coach will travel through Kandos to Singleton and the next day to Stroud, a town under National Trust classification, before travelling to Gloucester for 2 nights. The next day will be spent in the World Heritage - listed Gondwana Rainforests of Barrington Tops National Park.

After morning tea, Entertainment Officer, Gwen Clark, introduced our first guest Speaker, Wendy Scott, Manager of Assessment Services for Aged Care. Western NSW Aged Service stretches from Bathurst to Bourke.

Members were informed that the first step to obtain Services is to phone My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or go to www.myagedcare.gov.au for information on the assessment process and eligibility for different types of government - funded aged care.

You may be directed to the Regional Assessment Service (RAS) for Commonwealth Home Support Programme Services for entry level support at home, including help with housework, personal care, meals and food preparation, transport, shopping etc or you may be directed to an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) for a home care package or care in an aged care home, including residential respite for short stays.

Sometimes funding is not available for service providers (Australian Unity, Live Better etc) and you may be placed on a waitlist but Wendy suggested it is worthwhile to keep ringing service providers as funding may suddenly become available.

Trish Merchant then spoke about the Transitional Aged Care Programme (TACP) which provides restorative care (return to independence) transition from hospital or recovery from an accident or illness and is usually suggested by the hospital.

Elaine Pereira, on behalf of the Club, thanked Wendy and Trish and presented them with small gifts of appreciation.

Our next meeting will be held on Monday, June 17, with Jenny Wells organising the Door Roster and Ken and Sally Norrie and Ruth and Ian McKellar on the Morning Tea Roster.
