A traditional part of the festival is the Festival Queen and King Competition which is a great opportunity for local clubs to raise vital funds. Two crowns are awarded, the Charity Queen/King which is for the candidate who raises the most money leading up to the festival, and the Festival Queen/King which is judged on general presentation along with knowledge of Grenfell and the Festival's history. Candidates attend many events across the festival and the 2019 nominees are:

- Casey Hewen (Grenfell Swimming Club)
Casey is 19 years of age and has lived in the Weddin Shire her entire life. Casey attended St Josephs Primary School and The Henry Lawson High School before obtaining a traineeship with the Central West Credit Union in Cowra. This allowed her to obtain her Certificate 3 in Financial Services and she is currently studying her Certificate 4 in Credit Management while working at Central West Credit Union.
Outside of work Casey enjoys playing netball and rugby league tag in the local women's competitions. Casey hopes that by participating in the competition that she is able to further develop her skills and raise funds for the Grenfell Swimming Club to provide further shade at the local pool.
- Chad White (Grenfell Rotary Club)
A more recent arrival to Grenfell, Chad is 37 years of age and has lived in the Weddin Shire for the past 18 months. Currently employed by Western Plains Regional Development Suicide Prevention, his job is part of a vital push to raise awareness about suicide prevention, providing training to the community around suicide and forming a strategic plan for the Weddin Shire.
After spending 17 years in the nursing industry, Chad became a food and beverage attendant where he worked alongside some very prominent figures including the Prime Minister and Governor General. Chad has been in his current role for the past 12 months and was recently nominated for Weddin Shire Citizen of the Year and for the Barbara Hocking Memorial Award for the R U OK organisation.
- Tara Anderson (Grenfell Lions Club)
Having attended Grenfell Public School and The Henry Lawson High School, Tara is 19 years of age and has also lived in the Weddin Shire her whole life. Tara keeps herself busy working for both the Good Start Early Learning Centre and the Railway Hotel. and while continuing to work both jobs, Tara is hoping to further her studies and major in special needs either by teaching or becoming a teacher's aid in rural NSW.
After being named 'Miss Grenfell Showgirl' in 2018, Tara said that the experience taught her self growth, understandings, skills and confidence and encouraged her to participate in the Festival Queen/ King competition.
