Last Saturday the Panthers travelled to Harden to take on the 2nd placed Devils. The boys knew this was going to be a fast, physical game and if they were going to come away with the points they had to play good solid rugby for 80 minutes. Unfortunately Harden had different ideas and come out of the gates at full speed, the Grenfell boys couldn't keep up.The first 25 minutes it was all Harden and through good basic footy they run away to a 33 point lead. The Panthers then kicked into gear running the ball with a bit of mongrel and to their credit were able to hold the Devils out for the rest of the half. The 2nd half started better for the Panthers with the forwards dominating scrums and lineouts, which gave the backs room to move and make good meters. Finally Grenfell's efforts were rewarded with a try to one of the older boys, Jake Taylor. Harden run in a couple of late tries making the final score 47-5. Even though the score ended up a bit one sided the young Panthers should be proud of the way they played in the 2nd half. To shut down a team like Harden is a massive effort and goes to show that with a bit more hard work another win is just around the corner.
