Each year we make a contribution to a local charity or organisation and are greatly looking forward to supporting the CEF in their work to assist school leavers in our community to further their education.
The participants of the Muster take great pride in raising money for the charity chosen each year and now includes money raised on the day of our fancy dress wacky Wednesday as well as recycling to return and earn.
You can support the Muster riders and the Country Education Foundation during our event by joining us in the Main St to watch on as we parade our fancy dress and a lot of horses.
More information will be advertised closer to the event.
RUGBY LEAGUE -
GRENFELL RETURN TO LAWSON PARK THIS SUNDAY
After two away games and two byes, the Goannas and Girlannas are back at Lawson Park this Sunday for the first time since the April 14.
We will be hosting the Canowindra Tigers in League Tag (12.40pm) and First Grade (2.00pm) with the Youth League boys having a bye.
Last Sunday all three grades travelled out to Cargo and below are the match reports.
YOUTH LEAGUE
The young Goannas avenged the previous week's loss to Cargo by winning 26-16 after leading 16-10 at half time.
These two teams are evenly matched but it was the visitors who prevailed due to their better ball control.
Best and Fairest points went to Matty Ryan (3), Lachlan Kiss (2), and Lachlan Stevens (1) with Jai Purdie picking up the Players Player.
Tries were scored by Jai Purdie (2), Nathan Wilson, Joel Wheeler, and Lachlan Stevens who also kicked 3 goals.
LEAGUE TAG
The Girlannas shot out to an early 6 nil lead after a good try to Rachel Causer and looked to be in for a good day but it was Cargo who eventually went on to win the match 24-14.
This was a competitive match and a good effort by Grenfell against the competition favourites on their home track.
Best and Fairest points went to Breanna Anderson (3), Faith White (2), Rachel Causer (1) and the Players Player was won jointly by Rachel and Faith.
Rachel Causer, Breanna Anderson, and Chloe Madgwick scored our tries and Chrystal Hucker rounded off the scoring with a goal.
FIRST GRADE
The Goannas had a commanding 44-6 victory over the Blue Heelers after leading 24 nil at half time.
Grenfell set the tone for the match after two early tries to winger Wayne Holten and they controlled proceedings from that point on scoring nine tries to one in the process.
Ricky Whitton picked up the 3 Best & Fairest points and the players player with Wayne Holten collecting the 2 points and Travis Bryant a point.
Try scorers were Wayne Holten (2), Desi Doolan, Mitchell Stevens, Ricky Whitton, Travis Bryant, Brendan Hewen, Mick D'ombrain, and Sam Ingram. Mitchell Stevens kicked 3 goals and Ty Ashe one.
