Early in the term students planted herbs and vegetables in the garden that could be used for cooking. Staff would like to say a huge thank you to Larissa and Cooper Dun for donating many of the beautiful vegetables that are still being harvested.
Students learnt about Italian cuisine this term. Stages 2 and 3 learnt how to make fettuccine from scratch and two different sauces to accompany their pasta. A beef passatta was made to utilise all of the beautiful fresh tomatoes from the garden as well as the fresh Italian herbs. They also made a creamy bacon and chicken carbonara with some hidden vegies from the garden. Students learnt many kitchen skills from how to use a sharp knife to a variety of cooking methods. Stage 1 have been learning about healthy foods and treats in moderation. They have been showing great improvement with their kitchen skills and they really appreciate eating the food they have grown themselves.
