An upcoming fundraiser in Grenfell is aiming to lift the spirits of families in the bush all while paying respect to a legendary Australian cricketer.

The Stan McCabe 'Good Sports Night' will be held on Friday, May 24 in Grenfell, with special guests, cricketers Dougie Walters and John Benaud in attendance.
The fundraiser is paying homage to cricketer Stan McCabe who played in the Donald Bradman era and who was born in Grenfell.
"He was not only a great sportsman but he was a good sport,"organiser Bob McMillan said of McCabe.
Mr McMillan advised that the beneficiaries of the evening will be the Black Dog Institute, drought relief fund and the Grenfell Showground Trust.
"The drought affects us all," Mr McMillan explained.
"We're hoping to lift the spirits of families."

The event organisers are hopeful approximately 250 people attend the inaugural event, including parents, teens and seniors..
Admission prices are pitched at $70 for families, with singles $50, pensioner tickets $25 and solo teens $10.
The event is being held at the Grenfell Showground Pavillion from 6:30pm.
Seating is limited so bookings are essential. A light supper will be provided, please BYO alcohol.
