After uploading three photos of the completed Silo Art Project to Facebook last week, staff at the Record were astonished to find that the post had reached a staggering 245,683 people with 2,766 shares, 1,500 likes and 272 comments.
The mammoth project was arranged by the owners of Grenfell Commodities who sourced the world renowned Mongolian artist to complete the mural. Heesco spent five weeks in Grenfell completing the artwork which he says is the biggest mural he has ever attempted.
"I would like to thank Peter Mawhinney and Grenfell Commodities for giving me the chance to paint the biggest mural I've ever attempted," said Heesco.
The silos stand at 30 metres and 22 metres respectively, over 800 cans of spray paint and about 130 litres of acrylic paints were used to complete the artwork. Since completing the Grenfell Silo project Heesco said the reaction of the public has been overwhelming.
"The feedback has definitely been overwhelming, social media posts are still being shared around and people are constantly commenting and giving me praise, I am very humbled by such an amazing response," said Heesco.
"I would like to thank the Grenfell community for their hospitality, and the many, many kind words. It has been a wonderful experience, however it is great to be home with my kids and getting some rest now." he added.
