This group of Weddin Wanderers is pictured at the trig station situated at the summit of Yambira Mountain (775m), also known as "Sugarloaf", accessed from Grenfell via Mid Western Hwy and Major West Rd in Conimbla National Park. Kylie Fountain, Marion Ricketts, Peter Spedding, Stephen Griffin and Roma Sinclair were part of the large group of walkers led by Richard Jones and Keith Starr on this occasion in 1999.

This group was formed as part of a "get healthy" campaign run by Grenfell Community Health back in the late 1990s. The late Anne Cobham, Val Forsyth and Helen Deneven were instrumental in establishing the group that has conducted walks on the 3rd Sunday of the month for over 20 years.
Anyone is welcome to join us for the first walk in 2019, meeting in Church Street Grenfell, near the Post Office, ready to depart by car at 8:00am for Cowra.
First stop will be at the Garrison Gates, Evans St (off Binni Ck Rd) for an easy walk to POW Campsite/ Guard Tower where there is a wealth of information & toilet facilities. Next will be Japanese Gardens and Cultural Centre. As this Sunday is part of the Cowra Festival of International Understanding, entry to the gardens will be by gold coin (instead of $15) between 10am - 12pm. There are easy walking paths through the beautifully manicured gardens.
Third and final stop will be at Bellevue Hill/Scenic Lookout where the paths and steps lead to panoramic views over Cowra and the Lachlan Valley. Please bring your own morning tea, as Japanese Garden cafe will be extremely busy. Don't forget to take water, sunscreen, hat and wear comfortable walking shoes.
