Husband and wife duo make it to finals

We had a fairly quiet week this week with no Championships being played. As yet, there are no dates pending for the finals of the Singles or Pairs, so keep an eye out on our 'Grenfell Women's Bowling Club' Facebook page for last minute challenges.

The rest of the District however, is probably getting sick of the name of Grenfell. Once again, our club was well represented with S. and W. Paine and K. and M. Betcher travelling to Young on Saturday to compete in the District Mixed Pairs.

Sandy and Warren played well to win four of their six sets but were defeated overall in their section. Kathy and Martin however, played beautifully and made it through to the finals.

Unfortunately, after a long, hot day, they were pipped at the post to finish as Runners-Up. Congratulations Kathy and Martin and a big thank you to Young Bowling Club for your hospitality.

Our monthly meeting was also held on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, with a few sick and a few away there was only a small handful that attended.

We urge all of our members to attend when possible. Not only does it bring you up to date with the latest information, it also gives you a platform to offer your opinion and ideas about the future of our club.

For example, we will be having our Presidents Day in September.

Even though this is six months away, we are already looking for ideas for a theme.

Our next meeting is scheduled for 2.30pm on  April 6, immediately after our Pennant game.

The selection committee have been busy and have picked two teams for Pennant practice.

These will be held on Thursday March 21 at 10am and Saturday March 23 at 6pm and will be played over 21 ends.

These are not the final selections owing to players possibly being unavailable on these dates.

All members are considered to be available unless one of the Selectors has been notified otherwise.

Pennant dates are March 30 at Boorowa Ex, April 6 at Grenfell, April 13 at Boorowa Ex and April 27 at Grenfell.

The teams are as follows. Lead S. Bradkte, Second S. Paine, Third K. Betcher, Skip C. Hunter.

Team two is Lead J. Wood, Second J. McAlister, Third S. Gault, Skip R. Walter. New club uniform to be worn.
