The course duration is two weeks with both practical and theory elements included.
Staff have been studying the theory side of the course at Grenfell's new TAFE NSW Connected Learning Centre with the practical element being completed at the Grenfell granite pit.
Council's yard supervisor Brett Biddle said that it has been a great opportunity for his staff to up-skill their qualifications with the TAFE course being fully subsidised.
"Becoming qualified in the operation of council's heavy machinery is a great opportunity for future career advancement for the outdoor staff," said Mr Biddle.
"I am delighted that they have been given the chance to complete the training, it is a positive direction towards improving the culture throughout the yard," he added.
The staff have been learning how to operate heavy machinery including a skid steer, backhoe, excavator and front end loader.
