We enjoyed several seminars with different tutors teaching many subjects (some of which we loved and others made us wonder why we had attended!), with lots of fellowship, laughter and cups of tea.
Our enthusiasm never waned and we rarely missed our painting day.
Most of us tried to remember to bake a cake or iron spouse`s shirts now and then (Most of the menfolk complained about the strong odour of the oils and turps).
One of our first seminars was with `Girl` James who taught us roses and violets, well, the violets went well, but our roses (one of the most difficult flowers to paint) required some imagination, but we all enjoyed it.
Another tutor was Celia Larsen, who covered subjects of lustres, petit point, raised paste and penwork.....all far beyond our capabilities, but we were so very ambitious and keen to learn, so we went home with an idea of our lack of knowledge and a determination to learn.
Eventually the Grenfell Group purchased a larger kiln to replace the first one, so we could paint on larger items.
We held 'clinic' days at which everyone brought their 'disasters' for renovation.
Often the conclusion was to delegate under a flower pot or in some cases, broken for crocks IN the flower pot!
These clinic days would decide their fate!
