RUGBY LEAGUE
WESTERN WOMEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE
Last Saturday at Lawson Park the Woodbridge Cup girls took on the Panorama Platypi (Bathurst/Lithgow/Oberon) in round two of the Western Women’s tackle Rugby League competition.
Although the temperature only topped out at 30 degrees conditions were tough for the players due to high humidity.
The under 15s started proceedings with a solid 24-8 victory over the Platypi and when the 18s game was called off early due to a serious injury to a Platypi player the Woodbridge Cup held a commanding 60 nil lead.
The opens match was an entertaining affair with the Woodbridge team making the highly rated Panorama outfit work hard for their 26-14 win.
This Sunday the Woodbridge Cup teams take on the Dubbo Goannas at Dubbo with game times being Under 15s (10.30am), Under 18s (11.30am) and Opens (12.30pm)

THIS WEEKS INTERESTING NETBALL FACT
The first rules for netball were drawn up in 1895 in the USA. In 1891, James Naismith invented basketball as a way to keep young men at the School for Christian Workers (YMCA) occupied.
Women's indoor basketball followed, but within a few years dribbling ceased to exist in the women's game.
The game moved outdoors onto grass, the court was divided into three zones, and the baskets were replaced by rings with a net.
By the time the first set of codified rules were published in 1900, the game had become "netball".
The rules were standardised internationally in 1960.
