Members were asked to stand for a minutes silence in memory of Stella Copeman and Dot Hasler and sympathy was also extended to Nell Birch on the loss of her brother Vince Flanagan.
BIRTHDAYS AND WEDDING ANNIVERSARIES
Joan Eppelstun won the draw for birthday of the month, after social secretary Rosalie White read birthdays and wedding anniversaries.
UPCOMING TRIP
Tourist officer Nola Nobes announced that the 5 day Barrington Tops Tour is still being planned and that seats have been booked for a trip to the Canberra Theatre on Saturday March 9 for a matinee viewing of Senior Moments - a theatrical comedy revue.
The coach will leave Loaders depot at 9.30 am and members are asked to pack a picnic lunch to have in a park for a lunch break when we hit town.
The cost of $115 per person for travel and the theatre ticket is due at the February meeting, in an envelope, please,
Reports were presented on the Temora Combined Club Christmas luncheon and the Cootamundra Men’s Christmas party held at Stockinbingal Bowling Club, both of which were attended by Allen and Bev Kelly.
SUBSCRIPTIONS
Our annual subscription of $25 per person is due, if not already paid at the January meeting, and it is requested that this amount please be placed in an envelope labelled with your name, the amount and “for Fees”.
GUEST SPEAKER
After morning tea, entertainment officer, Sally Norrie, introduced our Guest Speaker, Mrs Louise Mugridge, the Clinical Nurse Consultant in the Oncology Unit at Young District Hospital.
Louise was instrumental in establishing patient support groups within the Young area as well as helping to develop a Cancer Service Directory for towns across the southern NSW region.
In 2017 Louise was awarded an Order of Australia Medal for her dedication to her career and her services to the community.
She presented a very interesting power point presentation which was followed by a question time.
Jenny Wells, on behalf of the club, thanked Louise and presented her with a small gift of appreciation.
NEXT MEETING
The next meeting of the Grenfell Combined Probus Club will be held on Monday, February 18, with Ted and Esma Baker on the door roster and Pam Holland, Jan Holland, June Power and Chris Lynch on the morning tea roster.
