The round was always in doubt when there was a large build up of thunder clouds earlier on Tuesday afternoon.
There was a few claps of thunder and then down came the rain leaving the courts awash and organisers had little choice than to call all play in Round 1 off.
A total of 8 mm was measured from the storm.
Round 1 of the Men's Competition will be played next Tuesday night weather permitting.

JUNIOR RUGBY UNION
Grenfell Junior Rugby receive funding
Sport and recreation clubs across the Cootamundra electorate have been successful in securing funding from the NSW Government for new equipment, facilities and programs through the Local Sport Grants Program.
Ten sport and recreation clubs will each receive grants of up to $20,000 in the latest round of funding which sees $4.2 million awarded to sports and recreation clubs across the state.
Grenfell will receive a slice of the funding pie with the Junior Rugby Union Club being allocated $12,474.
The money will be used for first aid training, come and try rugby day, subsidised travel to Rugby Gala Days for players, upgrade of clubhouse kitchen and the RB Bembrick Field.
Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke said the grant funding throughout the electorate would be used to increase participation, upgrade facilities and equipment and help train coaches and volunteers.
“Sport is part of who we are in the Cootamundra electorate, and while some ageing equipment has never stopped our people getting out on the field and having a crack,
“I’m proud to be able to deliver funding to local groups to buy new gear, deliver training and attract more people to their sport,” Ms Cooke said.

HORSE RACING
Cowra jockey’s suspension appeal upheld –
Cowra jockey Mathew Cahill has successfully appealed a six week suspension handed down by Racing NSW stewards following his ride on the Keith Dyrden trained Balansa in the TAB Federal Open Handicap in Canberra.
Stewards suspended Cahill after taking evidence from him, trainer Dryden and considering a written report from a Racing NSW Analyst.
No betting irregularities were found but stewards still suspended Cahill, who subsequently appealed the suspension.
On Thursday, January 24, 2019, the ACT Racing Appeals Tribunal (the Tribunal), constituted by the President, Mr John Kalokerinos and members Ms Noor Blumer and Ms Kay Barralet heard the matter upholding Cahill’s appeal.
Balansa finished fourth in the event.
The horse has had three subsequent finished last in a field of 10 at Canberra, fourth at the Sapphire Coast and eighth in a field of 11 at Wagga Wagga.
In handing down its decision the Tribunal noted that the case was not an easy one but, on balance, and giving appropriate weight to Cahill’s evidence and that of Mr Dryden, the Tribunal was not satisfied that the Cahill’s actions constituted a breach of the rules of racing.
Before upholding the appeal the Tribunal considered Cahill’s experience, the cogency of his explanation as to why the measures taken by him during the race were reasonable; his knowledge and experience of the temperament and habits of Balansa and the feasibility of the riding tactics available.
