Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke visited Grenfell on Monday, December 10, to make the announcement before an excited crowd of Dramatic Society and Arts and Craft group members. Ms Cooke said the funding will help the groups showcase their work more effectively to the local community.
“The repairs and maintenance that need doing on this building to bring it up to modern standards will really allow these groups to make the most of this facility to put on wonderful exhibitions and productions for people to come and see.” Ms Cooke said.
President of the Grenfell Dramatic Society Katherine Holmes said she was overwhelmed after being notified of the successful funding application.
“On behalf of the Grenfell Dramatic Society I would just like to say a massive thank you to Steph and the Weddin Shire council for achieving this great result, this will be such a huge benefit to our society for many years to come.” said Katherine.
Weddin Shire mayor Cr Mark Liebich said he was delighted for the groups which use the centre.
“To receive this funding towards the Weddin Community Arts Centre is a fantastic thing for the Dramatic Society and the local Arts and Crafts group.” he said.
