The Nationals’ Riverina MP, acting Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack visited town last Friday, November 30 where he enjoyed a tour through the new Medical Hub in Main Street which is nearing completion.
“I fought hard for this important infrastructure project and it is pleasing to see it becoming a reality,” Mr McCormack said.
“The Liberal and Nationals’ Government is making good on its commitment to further improve health services for regional and rural Australians.” he added
Weddin Shire Council Mayor Mark Liebich said the Health Hub would be a game-changer for the region.
“This medical facility will be a vital service as we head towards our Weddin Wellness Plan,” Cr Liebich said.
The building is scheduled to be completed before the end of the year and it is expected it will be officially opened early next year.
Following the tour through the new medical centre Mr McCormack had another surprise for Weddin Shire announcing that the town would receive a further $10,000 for a new cricket pitch.
These funds are in addition to the recent sports infrastructure funding received by the shire in the amount of $1,537,964.00.
