GRENFELL RSL REMEMBRANCE DAY SERVICE:
The Grenfell RSL will be commemorating Remembrance Day with a service at Memorial Park on Sunday, November 11, 2018 commencing at 10.45am.
Members of the public are invited and welcome to join the sub branch as they come together to remember the sacrifice of those who have died for Australia in wars and conflicts.
At 11am on November 11, 1918 the guns of the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare.
German leaders signed an Armistice, bringing to an end the First World War.
From the summer of 1918, the five divisions of the Australian Corps had been at the forefront of the allied advance to victory.
After the end of World War II, the Australian and British governments changed the name to Remembrance Day, a title that is more appropriate for a day when we commemorate all dead.
The service will involve the Army Cadets and students from Weddin schools.
The RSL will hold a luncheon at the bowling club from 12.30pm with the announcement of the Grenfell Cadet Platoon’s Cadet of the Year being made.
Guest speaker this year will be Captain Emily Douglas.
