On Wednesday the third Summer League was cancelled, due to the damp.
The rain didn't come until the next day and wasn't it great.
President Kathys' Presidents Day was also the next day.
Everyone turned up in mufti with a touch of red.
Not a uniform in sight.
We had our district representatives as well as 2 Forbes teams, 2 Canowindra, 1 Cowra, 1 West Wyalong Sports and 1 West Wyalong Womens team in attendance.
Due to a miscommunication, the local family team of Courtney, Tracey and Ross Hunter stood aside to allow an extra team from Canowindra to play.
They, along with the Presidents husband Martin and granddaughter Eve, were waiters and waitresses for the players.
Two games were planned, but the welcome rain decided otherwise.
All retired to the club where Courtney was entertainment officer, organising bingo and tops and tails trivia which was enjoyed be everyone.
Among the special guests were our Patron and the best raffle ticket seller we have, Merle Hunter; Club Chairperson Ross Hunter and; District President Robyn Apps, who also had the honour of presenting Kathy and Courtney with the Region10 Open Pairs Medallion.
Despite being served biscuits, cheese and chocolate dipped strawberries all morning, all enjoyed a hot meat and gravy roll followed by fruit salad and ice cream.
There was a 100 club and a 50 club sold as well as the raffle. There were many prizes in the raffle. All were donated, with special thanks to IGA for the beautiful fruit box which kindly donated and much appreciated by the recipient. Thank you to IGA and staff.
First draw in the raffle went to Eve Falconer (a metal dog ornament she had her eye on all day), Kay Payne took out the fruit box and one other pick. Further draws went to Diane Walsh, Judy Watson, Freda Hambrook, Pat Hodson, Sue Gault, Sonia Ingall, Lorraine Bales, Julie Avaloine, Joan Bailey and Marylin Allen.
The lucky door prize went to Lorraine Evelyn from Coota Ex.
The winners of the day were Coota Country Club with Dianne Buchannon, Betty Cleveland and Jan Slavin (skip), from runners-up Quentin Murray, Julie Wood and Joy Murray(skip), Quent also won the spider.
A very successful day with many compliments for our President and our club and a lot of very happy ladies and a very busy, happy granddaughter, thanks Eve.
On Saturday, the final of the Club Pairs was played. Sonia Ingall and Kathy Betcher against Julie Wood and Rosemary Walter.
A very good game, wind once again playing a part. The result was a win to Julie and Rosemary, Pairs Champions for 2018. Congratulations to all participants.
Summer League is also due to be played at 6pm at Young this evening, Good luck to the team.
