Melbourne defender Neville Jetta worried he might be in AFL match review trouble after collecting Hawthorn midfielder Tom Mitchell with a solid bump.

Mitchell had to leave the ground for a few minutes in the first quarter of last Friday night's semi-final when Jetta floored him.

Jetta, one of Melbourne's toughest players, did not know initially whether the bump was legal or not.

"I was just happy I was able to execute it ... I was a bit nervous (after), obviously I'd looked back and he was on the ground," he said

"I was just hoping I didn't get him too high.

"I got to the bench and they were like 'no mate, you're fine, it was shoulder to shoulder'.

"It is good when it comes off, but it can go two ways. I will probably try to tackle next time."

Jetta laid the bump with the same left shoulder that had troubled him ahead of the final.

He also missed Monday's light run, but is in no doubt for Saturday's preliminary final against West Coast at Optus Stadium.

It will be a special family moment, with Jetta and his cousin Lewis playing against each other in a final for the first time.

Neville and Lewis are close - more like brothers - and they have wished each other well for the match.

"It's good to see him going well ... I just hope he doesn't play too well against us," Neville said.

"I know he's proud of what I've been able to achieve, and I'm just looking forward to playing against him.

"It's a bit of a win-win for the family - they're going to see one of us in a grand final."

But there will be no mercy if Neville has to physically challenge Lewis the same way he bumped Mitchell.

While it is an unlikely scenario - they are defenders - the Demons hard man will set aside family bonds.

"We won't be cousins. I'm going to win the ball," Neville said.
