Following the successful sesquicentenary- the 150th anniversary of thoroughbred racing in Grenfell last year, where descendants of early committee including Griffiths, Fountain and Knight families returned, the Grenfell Jockey Club look forward to another successful event this Saturday, September 22.
The six race program features the Grenfell Cup as well as the Henry Lawson Loaded Dog Handicap.
The track is in excellent condition despite the ongoing drought and the racing surface should be in tip-top condition.
Attractions will include the Grenfell Town and District Band, Fashions on the Field, TAB, Bookmakers, On Course Punter’s Club as well as the usual Bar and Canteen facilities and the Lions’ Jumping Castle and Merry Go Round for the kiddies.
Fashions on the Field prizes will be awarded for Tiny Tots, Junior Girl, Teenage Girl, Elegant Lady, Best Dressed Gent, Best Dressed Couple and Most Outstanding Hat.
So why not get dressed in your finest and get along to the Grenfell Jockey Club’s Henry Lawson Loaded Dog and Grenfell Cup this Saturday – you will have a great day out and you may even win a fantastic prize.
The 2018 Jockey Club Race Day will see free entry into the event, however in support of Aussie Farmers during the current drought donations will be collected for drought relief. Donation boxes will be placed at the gate, in the office and race book stand.
Representatives from Grenfell Can Assist will also be on site for those wishing to donate to this very worthy local charity.
All racegoers are reminded that strictly no alcohol is to be brought onto the grounds. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
A courtesy bus will be available before and after the races, leaving from and dropping off at the Countrylink bus stop in Main Street near the Motel and at the Railway Hotel.
The first bus will depart at 12 noon and will run till 2pm. Following the last race the bus will depart from the racecourse and will run till around 6pm.
The Jockey Club committee wish to thank all of their 2018 sponsors.
