The Grenfell Garden Club’s 2018 Poppy Art competition celebrates the 100 year Anniversary of the first Armistice Day. The Flanders Poppy, has now become a well recognised symbol of this day, with the rich red colour of large, but delicate petals and famous black centre. This would be an interesting subject to paint in either oils or acrylics on canvas and all entries submitted will be exhibited at the Grenfell Art Gallery from October 16 to November 25. As with all types of art competitions there are specific conditions of entry. All Rose Street Studio members and anyone from  the community who are interested can obtain an information kit from the Grenfell Tourist desk in the Community Hub. This kit will explain conditions of entry, exhibition details, entry form, and where to obtain materials. This competition should attract a good response as first prize is $500.00 and Peoples Choice is $100.00. So go for it. Paint a Flanders Poppy, celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Armistice Day and win a prize.
