WELCOME TO THE WORLD: Jarrod and Emma Amery are excited to announce the arrival of their 6th child - a boy! Caleb Jack Amery was born on Friday June 22 2018 at Young hospital. His weight was 8 pounds 12 ounces. His five older sisters, Chloe, Clare, Lara, Zoe and Lucy are thrilled with their new baby brother. Caleb’s grandparents are Graham and Marian Amery of Grenfell and Noel and Sue Jolliffe of Forbes. Max and Clare Jolliffe of Forbes as well as Patricia Amery of Kyabram are Caleb’s great grandparents. Congratulations to all.

1ST BIRTHDAY: Oliver, son of Claire and Jay McCann celebrated his 1st birthday on Saturday August 4 with family and friends.
The Lions Club jumping castle was thoroughly enjoyed by all, young and old. The weather held off and it was a beautiful sunny day.
WINNER: Grenfell youngster Frank McMahon was delighted to be a winner during the 1st Grenfell Cub Scouts Family Bingo night fundraiser held at the Grenfell Bowling Club on Saturday July 7. Frank is pictured here with his grandmother Michelle Johnson and his prize, a BIG W gift card.
Cub Scout leaders were thrilled with the support from members of the community who came along and enjoyed a fantastic night of Bingo and games with some great prizes won.
NANNY TO THE RESCUE: Former Grenfell resident Emma Halloran of Yass who is studying Certificate 3 in Animal Studies recently had ten days work placement at Canberra Zoo. As Emma’s partner was overseas visiting family, her mother Dianne Yates came to rescue to do nanny duties to get the children to and from school each day.
FAREWELL DINNER: Wendy Bryant who has been working at the Grenfell MPS for the last month enjoyed dinner with work colleagues at the Railway Hotel prior to her departure back home to Queensland.
At this dinner, Dianne Yates and Kathy Irons were also celebrating their birthdays. Raewyn Apiti and Rebecca Knight were along for the celebrations, Rebecca’s husband Terry, who was the designated driver for the evening, also joined in the gathering.
NOSTALGIC VISIT: Ann-Maree Spackman, who now lives on the Sunshine Coast, returned to Grenfell last week.
Ann-Maree’s mother was Nancy Gannon who married Alf Spackman. She had two brothers Mark and Scott. Mark passed away in April 2017 whilst her father Alf died in September 2000. Les Gannon (dec) was Ann-Maree’s uncle. After moving from Grenfell at a young age, the family moved to Sydney, then Canberra then Melbourne and finally to the Sunshine Coast where Nancy also now lives. Many years ago Nancy worked at Sinclair’s Pharmacy.
Ann-Maree was accompanied by her good Scottish friend Helen Sinclair who wanted to see where Henry Lawson and Ann-Maree were born. Helen and Ann-Maree met when they were volunteers at the School of St Jude in Tanzania
The mission of The School of St Jude is to educate disadvantaged, bright students from the Arusha District to become moral and intellectual leaders in their country and for St Jude's to thereby demonstrate educational leadership in Tanzania. Ann-Maree mentioned that the Rotary Club of Grenfell supported the school
ROTARY WOOD RAFFLE: Over the past few weeks the Rotary Club of Grenfell have been selling tickets in a trailer load of wood. Jennifer Gavin from Grenfell Pharmacy drew the winning ticket (overseen by Ron McLelland) and the lucky winner was Pat Brown. Proceeds of the raffle will go to a Mental Health program.
