So well, that Garden Club members have had to thin out a large number of them in the council gardens, with still more thinning out to do next week. 

Grenfell will certainly have a mass of red poppies blooming in October/November in time for Remembrance Day.

The Garden Club still has poppy plants available if anyone would like some more, please contact Jenny Hetherington for details.

However, the Club is still in need of more knitted/crocheted poppies as members have progressively used the ones already contributed on a number of projects, including a large wall hanger, which will be on display at the Grenfell Gallery from October 16 to November 25. 

Club members will be placing as many as they can obtain in shop windows and other areas, so if anyone has any completed, could you please drop them in to Paige at The Tin Cupboard in Main Street.  

The count to date is 1,400. 

The aim is 2,000!, so it's getting closer! Fantastic effort Grenfell.

A Poppy Art competition with some great prize money is also being held and entry forms are available from the Grenfell Art Gallery for any artists out there who would like to enter. 

Call in and pick one up for yourself and fellow artists. 

Prize money is $500, plus People's Choice $100.

The next Grenfell Garden Club meeting will be held on Tuesday August 7, 2pm at Patina Gallery on Gooloogong Road. 

All members of the community are welcome to attend.
