The mercury dropped to -5.4 degrees Celsius according to the Bureau of Meteorology at 6.43am last Sunday however according to the apparent temperature, or the ‘Feels like’ factor, the temperature was -9.4 degrees Celsius.
On Monday morning the temperature once again dropped to only -5.4 degrees Celsius. However, locals getting ready or heading off to work at 7.30am would’ve told you that it felt a lot colder with the apparent temperature according to the Bureau feeling like -9.2 degrees Celsius. Even at 9 am on Monday morning when the temperature was at 0.3 degrees Celsius the ‘Feels Like’ factor was -2.8 degrees Celsius.
The apparent temperature or ‘Feels Like’ factor is the temperature as perceived by humans caused by the combined effects of air temperature, relative humidity and wind speed.
