RUGBY REUNION: John and Trish Griffiths of Tumbi Umbi returned to Grenfell at the weekend on a twofold purpose - one the 50 year Rugby Union reunion and two to visit family.

Trish, a former local girl, is the daughter of the late Gloria and Jim Shoemark, whilst John was a teacher at The Henry Lawson High School from 1967 – 1969.
John and Trish enjoyed an evening to dinner with their nephew Danny Joyce and his wife Monica and great niece Abbey. Mareea Brown and John Joyce also joined them for dinner.
Although Trish came from Grenfell and John taught here, they did not meet in here. Trish was nursing in Sydney when they met.
Another former teacher from The Henry Lawson High School, Phil Brown was also home for the Rugby Reunion.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY: Payten D’Ombrain celebrated her 4th birthday on July 12 with a special dinner with her parents Madeline and Jeremy, little sister Lorali, cousins Georgie and Sam, her aunty Lorene and uncle Tim Hazell and grandparents Vicki and Rodney Walsh.
The family met at the Railway Hotel for the celebration.
Payten enjoyed another birthday celebration on Saturday with all her little friends.
40TH BIRTHDAY: Good friends Tess Smith and Jenny Wilson enjoyed a night out last Saturday, July 14, to dinner at the Railway Hotel. Tess and Jenny were celebrating Jenny's 40th birthday that was earlier in the week. Happy 40th Jenny.
SCHOOL HOLIDAYS; Mary and Allan Stokes had their grandchildren Cameron (10) and Lachlan (6) visit over the school holidays. The boys are the sons of Mary and Allan’s daughter Susan and her husband Brian Curry of Albury.
The boys and Allan caught up with Jasper Brown who was also in Grenfell on school holidays, at the Bob Hinde Memorial Kart Meeting. Jasper was staying with his grandparents Terry and Deidre Carroll. Victorian school holidays commence a week earlier than NSW.
VISITING FROM GLEN INNES: Julie Biddle travelled from Glen Innes this week to visit her son Brett and daughter in law Tania Biddle and their children.
Julie, Tania and Tania’s mother Colleen Nealon attended the CWA Evening Branch’s International Evening at the Grenfell Country Club on Tuesday evening.
CWA INTERNATIONAL NIGHT: The Grenfell CWA Evening Branch hosted their Annual International Evening on Tuesday at the Grenfell Country Club on Tuesday evening July 17. The country of study this year is Poland and a number of members spoke on a variety of subjects including, food, fashion/dress, travel/tourism, education, commerce, industry, statistics, flag, religion and topography.
Following the talks members and guests participated in a quiz on Poland from what they had just learnt. Highlight of the evening was the magnificent Polish cuisine prepared by Tania Mooney.
The main course being Golabki (Polish Cabbage Rolls), Pierogi (Cheese and Potato Dumplings) and Placki Ziemniaczane Z Sosem Grzybowyn (Potato Pancakes with Mushroom Sauce).
The delectable desserts were Wuzetka (Chocolate and Cream Cake), Babka (Easter Cake) and Paczki (Polish Doughnuts) eaten traditionally the day before Lent. A great night of food, fun and fellowship was enjoyed by all.
The Art Gallery’s exhibition: The exhibition at the Grenfell Art Gallery is "Commonality” by local artist Brent Logan and is on display until 22 July 2018. The next exhibition in the Grenfell Art Gallery is ‘Art & Science – The Nature of Documentation’ by Matt Georgevits and Lanny Mackenzie.
The opening will take place on Tuesday July 24 @11am RSVP to Claire by July 23 - all welcome – please bring a plate to share for morning tea. The Art Gallery is open Monday to Friday 10am - 4pm, Saturday 10am - 3pm & Sunday 10am -2pm.
