To encourage residents of Weddin Shire to plant native shrubs, trees and bushes that will attract native birds and bees, the Weddin Community Native Nursery will conduct a plant giveaway next week.
To obtain up to five free native plants for your block, paddock, verge or garden, come to the nursery at 45 East Street, Grenfell, between 9am and noon from Monday, July 23 to Friday, July 27, where experienced nursery volunteers will assist you.
While at the nursery you will no doubt be tempted to purchase more of the native plants that are currently on display, there is a huge variety to choose from at very affordable prices, come along and have a browse.
Weddin Community Native Nursery will also be donating plants to all schools in the Weddin Shire to celebrate National Tree Day, these will be a great addition to the school’s grounds.
Older readers might remember "Wattle Day" or "Arbor Day" which was celebrated on August 1 every year by tree planting, songs, poetry and plays.
For more information regarding the plant giveaway or National Tree Day contact the nursery on 0456 879 481 or visit the Weddin Community Native Nursery Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/WeddinCommunityNativeNursery/
