On Saturday May 19, the 2018 Anglican Church Debutante Ball was held at the Grenfell Bowling Club.

The auditorium was beautifully decorated in delicate pastel pink tones with an Australiana theme.
After a two-course meal provided by the Bowling Club catering staff, the formal part of the evening began.
Our M.C for the evening, Nicola Mitton, introduced the official guests.
Receiving the debutantes was Mrs Jill Hodgson, from the Holy Trinity Anglican Church.
Jill was accompanied by her husband Alan.
Members of the official party included Weddin Shire Council Mayor Mark Liebich and his wife Bronwyn, Terry and Deidre Carroll representing St Joseph’s Catholic Church, and Reverend Ross Craven and Mrs Joan Eppelstun representing the Holy Trinity Anglican Church Parish Council.
Before the formal presentation the debutantes and their partners entertained the guests with an informal dance.
The formal part of the evening then commenced.
Flower girls Ally McCann and Shelby Dawes were the first to enter the auditorium.
Ally is the daughter of Keryl and Matt MCann, and Shelby is the daughter of Tegan and Josh Dawes.
The girls’ dresses were made from cream duchess satin dresses with an organza overlay and featured a pink sash at the waist.
Following the flower girls was our Matron of Honour, Chris Eppelstun.
Chris wore a scoop necked embroidered dress in shades of pink which features a fitted bodice and knee length, gathered skirt which tapered to the ankles.
The 2018 Anglican debutantes and their partners were then presented.
After the presentation Jill Hodgson officially opened the ball followed by the girls cutting the debutante cake.
The stunning cake was made by Mrs Enid Johnson and beautifully decorated by Mrs Judy Mitton.
The cake was beautifully decorated with pastel coloured flowers, matching the debutantes’ bouquets and pink ribbon trim.
Lucy Rassack and Bridget Baker then came forward to say a few words of thanks on behalf of the debutantes.
Debutantes and their partners then performed their formal dance “The Rock n Roll Waltz”.
The Anglican Church Ball Committee would like to thank the following people:

HEATHER WALKER
Heather is the eldest daughter of Miguela and Douglas Walker and was partnered on the night by Connor Day, the youngest son of Craig Day and Cathy Sullivan.
Heather is currently a Year 11 student at Young High School while Connor is undertaking Year 11 at The Henry Lawson High School.
Heather wore a beautiful soft floor length A-line gown of white satin with a chiffon overlay.
It featured lace beading on the scoop neckline with a slightly gathered skirt.
Heather enjoys helping out on her family farm and would like to further pursue a career in Agriculture or undertake a Bachelor of Education (K-12 Teaching) at Bathurst’s Charles Sturt University.
Connor’s hobbies include playing the drums and soccer.
He would like to pursue a career as a sports journalist.

BRIDGET BAKER
Bridget is the daughter of Scott & Carolyn Baker and was partnered by Adam Hewen, the son of Mark and Lyn Hewen.
Bridget and Adam are both in Year 11 at The Henry Lawson High School.
Bridget chose a stunning rouched, sweet-heart neckline chiffon gown.
It featured a sheer overlay that was heavily embellished with sequins and beading.
Another feature of her dress was the sheer backline which was edged with sequins and beading and falls gracefully into an A-line chiffon skirt.
Bridget enjoys playing sport including league tag and netball.
She currently works part time at the Grenfell Pharmacy.
When Bridget finishes school, she would like to go to university to study a Bachelor of Pharmacy.
Adam enjoys playing rugby league.
He currently works part time at Mawhood’s IGA and when he finishes school Adam would like to study science at university.

NATALIE COTTER
Natalie is the daughter of Rodney and Sonja Cotter.
She was partnered by Frazer Ryder, the son of Ian and Wendy Ryder.
Natalie is a Year 11 student at The Henry Lawson High School, whilst Frazer is in Year 12, also at The Henry Lawson High School.
Natalie wore a stunning gown with a lace bodice and high neckline at the front. It featured a cut away sleeve with criss-cross straps over a low back.
The soft tulle skirt fell delicately from the waistline to the floor.
Natalie is currently completing a school-based traineeship at the Grenfell Pre-school and LongDay Care Centre and works part time at the Star Diner on weekends.
Frazer enjoys playing football and spending time with his friends.
He is yet to decide on what he would like to do when he leaves school.

LUCY RASSACK
Lucy Rassack, daughter of Robyn Gaffey and Clive Rassack, was partnered on the night by Matthew Ryan, son of Bert and Shelly Ryan.
Lucy’s beautiful dress was designed from a traditional princess silhouette, falling into a multi-layered tulle skirt.
The fitted bodice took the sweetheart shape with a delicate layer of lace.
The lace details were in fine gold thread with both beads and sequins highlighting the floral design.
Thin satin straps ran over the shoulder to keep the emphasis on the finer details of the gown.
Lucy is in year 11 at The Henry Lawson High School, she is currently studying to be vet nurse at TAFE.
Matthew is currently undertaking a traineeship as a stock and station agent at C J Anderson & Co Real Estate Agents.

SARAH DEBRITT-FROST
Sarah is the daughter of Chontelle Debritt and Warren Frost, and she was partnered by Nathan Wilson, the son of Deb Wilson.
Sarah chose a stunning gown featuring a silver beaded and sequined bodice complimented beautifully by a full floor length white chiffon skirt.
Sarah is currently in year 11 at The Henry Lawson High School.
Nathan is in year 10 at The Henry Lawson High School.
Sarah is currently studying child care at TAFE, although she strives to become a qualified sports physiotherapist in the future.
Nathan is currently employed part time at Mawhood’s IGA and enjoys playing sports such as football for school and on weekends.
He looks forward to pursuing the idea of going into the army when he leaves school.
