In the absence of chairman Dennis, Vicki Reid chaired the June meeting of the Grenfell Senior Citizens Welfare Committee. There were nine members present and three apologies received.
Since some of the earlier units were built they are now showing some age and there have been some replacements needed, washing machines and stoves as well as one lot of new carpet.
The usual spraying and garden maintenance, as well as pruning and a dead tree removed, has all been done. As there hadn’t been any application received from a couple for the empty unit in Forbes Street, it was decided to offer it to a single lady who been on the list for quite some time.
There will NOT be a meeting in July so the next one will be on August 28. In the meantime the committee would like to increase their numbers by people who are interested in the welfare of older people in Grenfell. If you think that is for you please contact Vicki Reid or Glenice Clarke.
