Round 4 of the Men's No 2 Winter Night Tennis Competition was played in frosty conditions on Tuesday night and Charles Harvey and Steve Walker were the top players, winning a total of 32 games for the round.
Charles and Steve battled away in their first set against the runners-up, the consistent Michael Mitton and his partner for the round, Pat Hazell to win the set after some great tennis, 5/3.
Charles and Steve then went back on the court to play top tennis to win the remaining four sets 7/1, 7/1, 7/1 and 6/2.
A great effort for the two men and well done.
Michael Mitton who dominated the men's tennis in the first three rounds won a total of 28 games with his partner for Round 4, Pat Hazell.
After been beaten in their first set 3/5 by Harvey and Walker, they were comfortable winners of their remaining sets, 5/3, 6/2, 8/0 and 6/2, another fine performance.
Next best players were Danny Joyce and Rod Freudenstein, winning a total of 19 games for the round.
After having a great first setter against Grahame Edwards and Arnold Brown which resulted in a 4 all finish, Danny and Rod struggled in their next two sets to go down, 1/7, 2/6, they then bounced back to win their last two sets 5/3, 7/1.
Grahame and Arnold went on to win their second set 6/2, but battled away in the last three sets to lose 3/5, 1/7, 2/6 for a total of 16 games for the night.
Stuart McKellar and Rick Power played very consistent tennis throughout their five sets to win a total of 18 games.
Results of their sets were 5/3, 3/5, 5/3, 3/5, 2/6.
The other pair taking part in Round 4, Graham Watt and his fill-in for Ben Walker, Tracey Walker had little luck in their tennis.
The men will now play Round 5 next Tuesday night, July 17, weather permitting.
