AUSTRALIA DAY: I had the pleasure of attending the Grenfell Dramatic Society’s final production of ‘Australia Day’, by Jonathan Biggins and directed by Stephen Griffin.
Most of us can relate to the various situations involved in ‘committee meetings’, the antidotes and actions, full of up to date gags and finger on the pulse problems' certainly brought a smile and big laughs from the audience. The play was about six members of the organising committee hashing out the finer details of the big day while butting heads over politics, patriotism and progress. Matthew Lynch, who played part of Brain Harrigan, Mayor or Coriole Shire, was busy trying to upgrade his career to federal politics, was supported by his loyal deputy Robert Wilson (Adam Herdman), local builder and “salt of the earth” type Wally (Peter Soley), local CWA president Maree (Gai Lander), new Greens' councillor and “bleeding heart” Helen (Diane Donahue) and schoolteacher Chester (Jessie Friend), a perpetual joker. Following the production, Stephen thanked the actors, Grenfell Dramatic Society Foundation member and prompt Roma Sinclair and other members who assisted with lighting, set design, programs, props etc with special thanks to CJ Anderson & Co for bookings.
Cast members were presented with a small gift of appreciation by Judy Mitton and Sandra Hughes.
18TH BIRTHDAY: Jarrad Wilson celebrated his 18th birthday on Sunday June 10 with family and friends at his home in Grenfell. A beautiful double layered 18 cake was made and decorated by Cath Birch and included black forest sponge topped with cheesecake. Jarrad was pleased to have his Aunty Nise and Uncle Graeme attend from Sale in Victoria.

THE ART GALLERY’S EXHIBITION: The exhibition at the Grenfell Art Gallery is "Commonality” by local artist Brent Logan and is on display until July 22. Brent’s work aims to explore the human condition in an ever changing society through environmental portraiture.
He uses photography as a story telling tool to showcase diversity but most importantly to show the common goal of acceptance and inclusion.
Brent is overseas at the moment and wishes to thank his mother Cathie, his fiancé May Suzuki and Mary Moffitt and Carly Brown who assisted with the hanging of the exhibition.
