The Girlannas will need to be at their best against the unbeaten Cargo girls whereas after consecutive losses this becomes a crucial match for the Goannas. Cargo have won three of their six games this season and are a very skilful team with one of their wins being over the strong Eugowra outfit.
LEAGUE TAG
MATCH REPORT
Last Sunday at Eugowra the Girlannas went down to the Geagles 12 nil in a tight struggle that was dominated by excellent defence by both teams. Eugowra scored a converted try after 15 minutes and 6 nil remained the scoreline until the hosts scored again in the dying minutes of the game.
The Girlannas tried hard to breach the Eugowra defence but they were repeatedly held out by some last ditch efforts by the Eugowra girls.
Coach Wayne Holz was more than happy with the performance of the Girlannas and they were a touch unlucky not to come away with at least a draw as they had the better of the play for most of the second half. Three points and players player went to Breanna Anderson with Zoe Gavin picking up the two points and one to Anna Brenner.
FIRST GRADE
MATCH REPORT
The Goannas went down 36-16 to the Eugowra Eagles at Eugowra last Sunday in a topsy-turvy match. Grenfell came out strong and dominated the opening 20 minutes and led 6 nil until Eugowra came back with two tries to go to the break with a 10-6 advantage. It appeared that the Goannas had taken control of the match in the first 15 minutes after half time when they scored two tries and shot out to a 16-10 lead.
They were making plenty of ground and another try looked likely but then the whole match turned around with Eugowra controlling possession for the remainder of the time and in doing so ran in five unanswered tries.
Clearly Grenfell had a lot of things go against them in the final quarter of the game but their opposition stuck to their guns and played solid footy for the full eighty minutes. Sam Ingram had a big day scoring two tries and receiving the players player as well as three best and fairest points.
