Championship Pairs

Section 2 of the Open Pairs were played at Grenfell over the weekend.

After 3 tough games two Grenfell Teams consisting of Martin Betcher and Ray Walter along with Andrew Armstrong and Blake Bradtke qualified for the Final Sunday afternoon.

In one of the best games seen in Grenfell for a long time Andrew and Blake emerged the winners 23-22.

They now qualify for Zone finals at Cowra next Sunday, May 27 where they will meet Martin Bryne and Jai Marskell of Mudgee in the semi-final, with the final in the afternoon.

At Parkes Section 2 of the Senior Pairs was played with the Grenfell pair of Steve Galvin and John Joyce winning through to the Zone finals with a strong win over Graham Barby and Col Hayward of Parkes in the final.

They will now meet Geoff Thorne and Ross James of Bathurst City in the Zone semi-finals at Cowra next Sunday.

Club Championships

In the Major Pairs Ray Walter and Martin Betcher played Mark McSpadden and Quinton Murray, Mark and Quinton raced away to a big lead of 17-4 only to be run down and losing 19-17.

All players are urged to organize their games ASAP.

Social Bowls

A total of 38 social bowlers took to the green this week.

Free Games: Paul Kay, Martin Betcher and Gary Pipe.
