Last Sunday at Lawson Park the Grenfell Girlannas had a good 40 nil victory over the Trundle Boomers.
The Girlannas went on with the job in the second half after leading 18 nil at halftime.
They combined well in attack and used the ball across the park putting into practice what they have they been working on at training.
Rachel Causer had a good day picking up the players player as well as the three best and fairest points with the other points going to Zoe Gavin (2) and Breanna Anderson (1).
Grenfell’s eight tries were scored by Zoe Gavin (2), Holly Bowerman (2), Rachel Causer, Breanna Anderson, Caitlin Dixon, and Abbey Joyce, with Isabelle Holz kicking four conversions.
Holly Bowerman was again our first try scorer so Dean Coldicott picked up the $140 after purchasing her at the Calcutta.
FIRST GRADE
The Goannas tasted defeat for the first time this season when they were defeated 34 to 24 by Trundle last Sunday at Lawson Park.
Trundle went to an early 12 nil lead but the Goannas were able to drag this back to 12 all before the Boomers struck again twice to go to half time in front 22-12.
Trundle were able to dominate the ruck with their starting forward pack and then keep the roll going using the strength that they have available on their interchange bench.
The Goannas did make a late charge but Trundle were deserved winners and showed why they would be the early favourites for the premiership.
For the Goannas Joe Herden (3pts) and Ty Ashe (2pts and players player) continued their good recent form with Brendon Hewen picking up a point.
Tries were scored by Ty, Ricky Whitton, and Joe (2) with Mitchell Stevens in good form with the boot knocking over four from four.
The Bromar syndicate of Zac Starr, Steve Walker, and James Hunter again picked up the Calcutta ($190) when number 9 (Joe Herden) scored the first try for the Goannas.
