Club Championships: There were two Minor Singles matches decided this week: Gav Johnson defeated Graeme Sadler 31-12, while on Saturday Martin Betcher def Dennis Hughes 31-19. In Major Singles Steve Galvin def Barry Bradtke 31-14. Steve will now play Ray Walter in the final. Both the Major and Minor Pairs Championship draw is on the notice board. Teams are urged to arrange their matches, by mutual agreement, and complete them ASAP.

Social Bowls: Some welcome rain on Friday was enough for bowls to be called off for the day, but bowlers were out in force on Wednesday and Sunday, with a total of 34 enjoying a game. Prize winners this week were: Chooks – Steve Galvin, John Joyce and Barry Bradtke; market night vouchers – Rob Chambers and Ray Walter (2); Free games – Barry Jones, Andrew Armstrong and David Ballard.
Zone 4 Championship Pairs: The draw has been held and all matches will be played this weekend, May 19/20. Matches involving Grenfell bowlers are: Senior Pairs – Steve Galvin and John Joyce will play Grenfell’s Keith Brus and Barry Jones at Parkes Railway. Presidents Pairs – Barry Bradtke and Kerrie Aston will play Eugowra Team Tim Yell and John Gilson at Eugowra.
Grenfell has been selected as the venue for the Open Pairs Championship, where Andrew Armstrong and Blake Bradtke will play fellow Grenfell bowlers Mark McSpadden and Garry Pipe; Roger Baker and Ross Hunter will play Tom Furey and Garry Carberry from Parkes B & SC; Clive Anderson and Warren Paine will play Canowindra team, Peter Taylor and Roger Traves; Martin Betcher and Ray Walter have the benefit of a bye, and will play the winners of the Paine/Traves match.
Zone 4 Singles Championships: Nominations are open for the State Open Singles, State Senior Singles and State Presidents Singles Championships. Sectional play will be held on June 30/July 1 at various venues throughout the Zone, with the finals to be held on Saturday July 7 at the Dubbo Railway BC. Entry is $5 and closes on June 15 at 6pm.
Jackpot: To win this week you needed –7 on end 8, on an even-numbered rink. With no winners, next week the jackpot jumps to $121.
