Grenfell Food Hall celebrated its 2nd Birthday last Friday May 4 with a special morning tea being provided to the large crowd in attendance.

Manager Joan Cations thanked all of her dedicated volunteers before officially cutting the cake, this was followed by an address by Weddin Shire Councillors Jan Parlett and Phil Diprose who congratulated the hard working team.
The Food Hall is run by volunteers and operates out of the Anglican Church Hall in Middle Street on Fridays between 9am -11am. All members of the community are now welcome to utilise the Food Hall.
The Food Hall not only offers a huge range of groceries items at greatly reduced prices it is also a social meeting place where locals can get together and enjoy each others company over a cuppa.
Food Hall volunteers will even provide transport for those who may need assistance getting to and from the hall.

2018 Food Hall report:
I am very pleased to report that the Food Hall is going from strength to strength. We are seeing new customers coming in most Friday’s and a number of younger ones coming and registering, we now have over 200 registered users with an average of 30 – 40 people regularly utilising the service each Friday with many enjoying morning tea and a chat with others.
The morning tea ladies to a great job serving scones, sandwiches, fruit, cakes and slices every Friday. The Food Hall supplies some of the cooking ingredients to help with the cooking and the ladies cook a variety of their favourite recipes for everyone to enjoy.
Just before Christmas we put together 60 Christmas Hampers which were eagerly sought after and enjoyed. The Uniting Church purchased some to give out to people and we gave some to our needy customers.
We have now paid back the Uniting Church for the money they lent us to get started and we are very thankful for this and their ongoing assistance. We also pay the Anglican Church twice a year for using the electricity and gas, we are extremely grateful to them for the use of their hall.
As we are non-for-profit, we are now in the position to give back to our customers with more items on the table. We will always be indebted to our wonderful volunteers who do such an incredible job.
